IMPASTO

IMPASTO is a technique where a painter applies thick layers of paint to a canvas which form a very rugged and diverse 3D surface of the painting. Very few artists choose IMPASTO technique because of its slow drying, which is necessary, and therefore IMPASTO can be considered rare. Oil paint is like a fine wine that gets better with age, the slowness of the ripening process turns the leaven into something so delicious and the wine sediment into the sparkle. When painting I use three special techniques that follow each other. I focus my work on quality and diversity, that is my credo, not quantity. Thanks to its very strong structure, my abstract paintings can be perceived by two senses - vision and touch. The possibility to observe the completed painting and contribute to the choice of tones that are hidden in vivid, gravity-driven colours fills the soul with peace. The touch can be used to perceive the vibrations that were needed to capture the very moment when the colour hit the canvas and began to fight gravity.

The oil in the IMPASTO technique may take up to 4 years of very slow drying. It is the time, which is necessary for the creation of a few-years-old IMPASTO, that makes the value of the artwork.
